DevOps Engineer (Linux + PostgreSQL + nginx)
Own the prod infrastructure for ~30 customer sites. Linux VPS, PostgreSQL, nginx, Cloudflare, on-call. The site stays up, the backups work, the customer doesn't notice you exist.

You'll own production infrastructure for our customer sites — currently ~30 active projects across DigitalOcean, Hetzner, and customer-owned cloud accounts. You'll set up new sites, maintain the existing ones, manage backups, monitor performance, and handle on-call escalations.
This role is the difference between 'the site is just running' and 'the site is well-managed.' You'll own runbooks, document everything, and make sure that when someone else needs to investigate at 2am, they can.
What you'll do
- Set up new customer sites end-to-end — VPS provisioning, nginx config, SSL, PostgreSQL, Node deployment, backups, monitoring.
- Maintain the existing ~30 production sites. Updates, patches, performance audits, capacity planning.
- Own backups + restore. Test every backup quarterly. Document the restore runbook so anyone can execute it.
- Monitor performance + uptime. Set up alerts that actually wake the right person up. Reduce false positives.
- Be on-call (1 week in 4) for customer escalations. Document each incident with a written postmortem.
- Maintain our internal infrastructure: dev servers, CI runners, monitoring stack, secrets management.
You should have
- 3+ years of production Linux ops experience. Ubuntu Server preferred.
- Strong nginx (you can write the config, debug a 502, set up SSL with Let's Encrypt, do reverse proxy + rate limiting).
- PostgreSQL ops — install, tune basic params, set up streaming replication, backup + restore.
- Comfortable with shell scripting + at least one general-purpose language (Python, Node, Go).
- Have written a runbook that someone else successfully followed.
Nice to have (not required)
- Cloudflare (DNS, WAF, page rules, workers).
- Docker / docker-compose for staging environments.
- Prometheus + Grafana or another monitoring stack.
- DigitalOcean + Hetzner specifically (we use both).
- Some experience with cron-based + queue-based job systems.
About the team you'll join
You'll be our first dedicated DevOps hire. Until now, infra has been handled by the senior engineers. You'll have a quiet first month documenting the existing setup and then start owning it.
Specific to this role
- On-call comp: ₹15k flat per week on rotation; ₹2.5k per actual incident woken up for.
- Hardware budget for home lab on top of the standard hardware budget.
